A single-page tool for miniature painters: pick or explore a colour and get colour harmonies
matched to real paints you can buy — with cross-brand equivalents, colour-blindness simulation
and WCAG contrast checks.
How the matching works — and why it's honest
Colours are converted sRGB → CIELAB (D65) and matched by CIEDE2000 (ΔE 2000);
harmonies rotate hue in HSL. That maths is exact and unit-tested. But paint hex values are
approximate (most are community-sourced and tagged “approx”), so every match
shows its ΔE and a plain-language quality label — “ideal vs actual” always
surfaces the gap and never implies a perfect match.

The dataset (2,508 paints across eight brands — Citadel, Vallejo, The Army Painter, Two Thin Coats,
Reaper, Scale75, P3 and Pro Acryl) is a curated compilation from the community dataset
Arcturus5404/miniature-paints,
used under the MIT License, © 2022 Rick Fleuren. DakkaDakka is
credited for the cross-reference concept; its chart was not copied.
